Terms of Use
Effective date: 9 November 2026
These terms cover your use of JingleJoy: Christmas Countdown, published by New Version Limited, a company based in New Zealand ("we", "us"), and offered worldwide. By using the app you agree to them. If you are under 18, please use JingleJoy together with a parent or guardian, who can agree to these terms for you.
The licence
If you downloaded JingleJoy from the Apple App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies. If you downloaded it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply. These terms add a few points specific to JingleJoy. We give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to use the app on your own devices for your family's non-commercial use. The art, music, sounds, text and code in the app belong to us or our licensors, and you may not copy, resell or reverse engineer them, except as the law allows.
What JingleJoy is
JingleJoy is an Advent calendar game. Each day from 1 December a door unlocks. A short mini-game turns the key, and the door opens onto an idea for something to do together. Doing it earns Joy Stars and ornaments for your family tree. Joy Stars are earned by playing and doing, and can never be bought.
The activities are suggestions. You are responsible for deciding whether an activity is right and safe for your family. Some doors involve other people or going out, such as acts of kindness. Please ask first or go with a grown-up, use good judgment and follow local rules and guidance.
JingleJoy Plus
- JingleJoy Plus is a one-time lifetime unlock. It is not a subscription and never renews.
- It unlocks extra door packs, the door editor and custom calendars, extra themes and photo backgrounds, more widgets, extra tree decorations and more profiles, on the store account you bought it with. What is included is shown in the app before you buy.
- The price is shown by the store before you buy. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their policies.
- Use Restore Purchases in the app to unlock Plus again on a new device signed in to the same store account. We do not promise that Family Sharing or similar store features will cover Plus.
- Nothing else in the app is for sale. There are no ads and no paid random items.
Your data and your calendars
Your calendars, profiles and progress stay on your device and belong to you. There is no backup service run by us, so if you delete the app or lose your device, that data may be lost unless your phone's own backup restores it. Calendars you share with others are sent by you, as text codes, to people you choose. You are responsible for what you put in them. Do not include anything unlawful, offensive or private about other people. When you import a code from someone else, treat it as coming from that person, not from us.
Reminders and the countdown
Door reminders and the countdown rely on your device's date, time zone and notification settings. If your clock or time zone is wrong, doors may unlock at the wrong time. We do our best, but reminders and widgets are a helpful nudge, not a guarantee, and your phone may delay or skip them.
Acceptable use
Please use JingleJoy only for its intended purpose. Do not try to break, overload or misuse the app, bypass the Plus purchase, or use shared codes to harm others.
Changes
We may update the app and these terms from time to time. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will update the effective date above. Using the app after a change means you accept it.
No warranty
JingleJoy is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, missed doors or reminders, activities you choose to do, or any indirect loss. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 in New Zealand.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the courts of New Zealand have non-exclusive jurisdiction. This does not take away any mandatory consumer protections you have in the country where you live.
